In the 1960s and '70s, Terry Harkin was a two-footed goal machine who partnered John Charles and John Toshack at Cardiff, starred in internationals with Best and Jennings, and set a still-standing scoring record for Crewe Alexandra. But on retiring from the field, more was to come. Against the backdrop of the Troubles, which saw professional soccer banned in his home town for more than a decade, Harkin and the Gang of Four helped restore Derry City from the ashes back to its position as one of the greatest teams in Ireland.
